In practice, Reddy was comfortably the quickest Indian, finishing 11th, ninth, 17th and and 16th in the four sessions.

Lanan's Akhil Rabindra was classified 18th, 14th, 16th and 18th in practice, while rookie Mahadik finished in 15th, 15th, 18th and 20th positions.

Carlin’s Ameya Vaidyanathan missed the round after he was advised to take rest as he continues to recover from a spectacular accident at Oulton Park.

In qualifying, Reddy stole the show, grabbing fourth spot on the grid for race one - his best starting position since Snetterton where he qualified third.

Rabindra was 16th quickest in the session while Mahadik qualified on the last row of the grid in 19th place.

Season's second podium for Reddy

While Reddy maintained position at initial start, Mahadik and Enzo Bortoleto made contact after the Brazilian stalled on the grid and the Indian couldn't avoid a collision.

Both drivers retired bringing the red flag as the race was shortened to six laps starting on the original starting position.

At the restart, Reddy held on to fourth while staying within touching distance of top-three runners. Soon afterwards, Lando Norris went off at Becketts, promoting Reddy into third place.

The Fortec driver, however, had to withstand heavy pressure from Carlin’s Ricky Collard, with the Englishman eager to snatch the final podium spot.

In the end Reddy managed defend his position, taking his second podium of the season. “I tried to drive my own race and I had a good grid position in fourth so I knew that if I drove my own race that I would have a shot at getting on the podium,’’ Reddy said.

“Third place is good points for the championship and hopefully now I can carry this on.”

“Ricky was very close behind so I had to defend but I managed to get a bit of a gap on the last lap and put in a good lap time for lap three so that was good too,’’ he added.

Meanwhile, Rabindra made up five positions to finish 11th while Mathues Leist took a comfortable victory ahead of Thomas Randle.

Difficult result in wet race 2

Wet conditions turned out to be a hard nut to crack for Reddy on Sunday with the 18-year-old finishing the second race eighth, having started sixth.

The Fortec driver lost five position in the opening lap before recovering three positions in the eight-lap race to eighth.

Rabindra, meanwhile, again finished in 11th position while Mahadik didn’t take part in the race as Chris Dittmann Racing couldn't repair his car.

The Lanan driver lost six places in the opening lap and gradually made his way up to finish 12th before was promoted to 11th after Sisa Ngebulana was excluded from the race.

At the front, Toby Sowery took his third victory of the season, having passed pole-sitter Jan Jonck on the opening lap.

Norris charged his way from 17th to finish second, while race 1 winner Collard completed the podium.

The final race was abandoned due to treacherous weather conditions as Reddy moves to 10th in the standings with 145 points, Rabindra 18th with 72 ahead of Vaidyanathan and Mahadik on 69 and 63 points respectively.
