Ryan Lewis had a weekend to forget at Silverstone after the results in the three British F3 races left the young Brit feeling frustrated by the end of Sunday afternoon.
Saturday's race was a short affair for Ryan who went out on the first lap after going up the inside of Kane and Senna at Abbey and running out of track. As Ryan says, "it was a do or die moment; I had to go for the gap but it doesn't always pay off."
The first race on Sunday developed into a four-way battle for seventh place between Christian Bakkerud, Ryan, James Walker and Tim Bridgman, the four cars running close together throughout the main part of the race. Ryan ultimately took a top ten finish after starting from 11th on the grid but had problems with the balance of his car throughout the race, losing a lot of ground especially at Chapel, leading onto the Hangar Straight.
In the final race Ryan got bogged down at the start and lost at least five places. He was then unceremoniously punted by another car as he fought his way back through the field which meant he had to pit at the end of the first lap. The team changed his left rear wheel and sent him on his way but it became apparent that the knock had also damaged his suspension so the car felt strange for the remainder of the race. Ryan finished in 14th position.
"That is definitely being marked down as my worst weekend yet," commented Ryan after the last race. "We just haven't managed to nail the set up all weekend which is frustrating when we ran so well in the test here last week. All we can do now is put it behind us and look to the next races....we'll be back!"
