Clivio Piccione notched up yet another superb podium finish in the 11th round of the British Formula 3 Scholarship Class Championship with a second place at Snetterton.

The Monegasque teenager once more showed front-running form in his T-Sport Dallara-Mugen Honda, and once again humbled many of the A-class drivers in his one-year-old machine.

Piccione fought through from 11th on the grid overall to take eighth in the combined rankings in the race. He was separated from the class winner by one A-class car, which held up Clivio for most of the race. The three cars flashed across the line separated by less than a second, so it was a frustrating obstacle.

"The A-class car was just pulling away down the straights so I couldn't do anything," said Piccione. "I was much quicker in the corners, but he had an A-class engine. If I hadn't had him in the way I would have passed Carroll easily.

"There was further frustration for Clivio in the subsequent two races. In the first he took class pole position with a time good enough for sixth overall on the grid. He was running second in class in the race when he got elbowed wide by an A-class runner and spun off. Clivio re-joined the race attacking hard moving up the field to sixth showing true determination on his way by claiming fastest lap of the race.

In the weekends other race Clivio was second on the grid for the scholarship class and an even more impressive fifth overall. Unfortunately Clivio faltered at the start stalling his car and ruining any hopes for a strong finish.

"We've been competitive this weekend, which is good," said Clivio. "The car was maybe a little too consistent in qualifying - that's not necessarily bad, but it did mean I just couldn't get squeeze any more from such a good set up. I can't win the championship now but I'm almost certain to be second, but even so I'm frustrated because I should have won two races and 40 points are in the bin. I'll just be going for wins now."
