Difficult Weekend for Davison at Silverstone

Fickle weather strikes and forces cancellation of second race

Will Davison has endured a difficult weekend in the latest round of the British Formula 3 Championship at Silverstone in England.

The 21-year-old qualified sixth and eighth in his Menu Motorsport machine for the two races, but such was the terrible weather, only the first race was actually run.

Quite simply, Davison struggled with his machine in the greasy conditions of the race, slipping back from sixth on the grid to finish 11th at race's end.

"I tried my best as I always do but we just struggled in the race with the car," said the 21-year-old.

"Qualifying was disappointing but not totally disastrous but the race was very disappointing. We went backwards and were just not fast enough at all, which means we've got a bit of work to do.

"We've got to bounce back at Croft (the site of the next two rounds) or the year's not looking good. But I'm confident we'll sort it. No one's more down than the team and they're keen to get on top of what it is."

The weather was so bad that officials had no option but to cancel the second race that was due to be run.

Rounds five and six of the championship will be held at Croft on May 2.

Croft is a happy hunting ground for Davison, as he took his first victory there last year in the corresponding round for Alan Docking Racing after difficult opening rounds.
