New riders to test the veterans of freestyle motocross in 2004

AURORA, Ill. (December 16, 2003) - The 2004 IFMA Freestyle Motocross Presented by XM Satellite Radio season kick's off in Sacramento and Oakland, Calif. January 2 & 3, with an all new cast of competitors challenging the veterans. The 2004 IFMA Championship is up for grabs now that back-to-back champion Kenny Bartram will miss the first few events of the season with an injury.

Blasting on the scene in 2004 are new riders that are sure to be strong contenders at each IFMA event. Mike Mason, former professional Arenacross racer now turned full time freestyle motocross rider, brings speed and a fresh style to the course. Jim McNeil started with the IFMA in 2003, only riding in two events before coming to Kansas City and pulling off the back flip taking, third place in Saturday night's main event. Canadian Jeff Fehr will compete in his first IFMA event in Sacramento, Calif. January 2. Fehr is one of the riders who have the back flip in his arsenal of tricks.

Rookie Brian Dowdy showed off his "Holy Grab" in Kansas City, Mo., a trick that no other rider has performed. This nothing superman rock solid to double grab combo (holy grab) is a trick that many consider more difficult than the flip. The explosive riding of Dayne Kinnaird will also be showcased in the 2004 IFMA tour. In his first two IFMA competitions that Kinnaird has competed in, he rode away with two first place finishes.

Returning to the IFMA tour in 2004 will be now veterans Beau Bamburg, Drake McElroy, Dustin Miller and more. Andy Jones, Adam Jones and Derek Burlew, all top ten in 2003 IFMA points, will continue to grow the sport, developing new and more technical tricks. Myles Richmond and Matt Buyten, 2003 IFMA Co-Rookies of the Year, will battle to become the next superstar of freestyle motocross going head-to-head with US Open of FMX champion Darin Connet and 2003 IFMA Most Improved Rider Brian Foster.
