SuperStock Championship 2010 Calendar
Powerboat P1 Management Ltd, the rights holder Hydrex 150hp pushing their engines to the max to contend in 225hp fleet to the Powerboat P1 SuperStock Championship, announced its provisional calendar for the 2010 season with six venues, including two Powerboat P1 Grand Prix events beyond the series' traditional British base. The SuperStock Championship will showcase the UK's most accessible marine motorsport to a wider audience, while adding a new tier of racing to the existing Powerboat P1 World Championship.
"The early signs for the series are fantastic!" says Andy Hindley, Powerboat P1 Director, "In just ten weeks, we have organized the calendar, ratified a set of rules and secured a television agreement, following the takeover from the Formula 4-Stroke Association. Racing outside of the championship's conventional UK and Irish shores, coupled with exciting new collaborations, illustrates our huge ambitions for the series."
The SuperStock Championship will begin in Split, Croatia, April 16-18, with the season opener of the Powerboat P1 World Championship, which coincides with the Croatia Boat Show, presenting a unique collaboration for the marine motorsport. The port of Penzance, England, will host round two of the 2010 series; then the SuperStock Championship fleet powers into Galway, on Ireland's west coast, as part of the Around Ireland Offshore Powerboat Race, securing the series' first return to the Emerald Isle since 2006. Pwllheli, a Welsh coastal town reinforces the sport's Celtic flavor and has an excellent infrastructure says Hindley, "We are eager to continue our relationship with this seaside town."
Powerboat P1's Scandinavian Grand Prix August 6-8 offers the next chance for the SuperStock boats to race in foreign waters and a sixth Championship on home shores is planned. "I am confident that our ability to deliver four new venues and a sensational finale planned for September on England's south coast will ensure a successful first year for the SuperStock Championship," says Hindley. <pre> 2010 Provisional Calendar
