Moore fired up for Fiesta Final

Geordie fire fighter Chris Moore is all revved up for the forthcoming Wales Rally GB when he and co-driver Richard 'wee man' Edwards will go head to head with some of the top Ford Fiesta drivers from around the world as part of their prize for winning the inaugural Ford Fiesta UK Sporting Trophy.

The pair recently won the championship in a dramatic showdown in North Wales, bringing their Innovation Motorsports Ford Fiesta ST home in 2nd place at the end of a day full of action and eventually clinching the title by a mere 0.8 of a second!

The 2006 Ford Fiesta Sporting Trophy has proved to be one of the toughest one make championships seen in the British Isles in many years with no fewer than 6 different winners throughout the season.

Winning the UK championship means the pair now have the opportunity to go head to head with competitors from the Ford Fiesta Sporting International. This series, which has competed on selected rounds of the World Rally Championship, was recently won by no less than Alessandro Bettega, son of the late Lancia works driver Attilio Bettega and Chris is relishing the prospect of going up against the best in the world.

We've always gone well in Wales and we've won two forest events there this year, so I'd like to think we can mix it with the International boys. Id like to thank all my sponsors, and of course M Sport for giving me this fantastic opportunity! Wales Rally GB is an event every driver aspires to compete on however I've never had the opportunity in the past. Were having to use a different car for this event as we'd already agreed to lease my own out to a young Dutch driver before we won the title! Its a right hand drive car and having driven left hand drive all season it may take a few stages to get used to it.

The 2006 Wales Rally GB will be the longest rally Chris has ever competed in, with the event encompassing the equivalent of 5 normal Fiesta Trophy rallies but Chris and Wee man are convinced that the rigorous training schedule that they have endured throughout the year will stand them in good steed for this, their toughest challenge yet!
