Rautenbach wins Junior Championship

22 year old Conrad Rautenbach took the 2006 Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship Junior title on this weekend's final round the Wales Rally GB.

Conrad has been dovetailing campaigns in the BRC with an assault on the Junior World Rally Championship and had never contested any of the British events before.

With David Senior calling the notes the young Zimbabwean put in some very impressive results including 4th in class on the Rally Isle of Man. This was only the 2nd time Conrad had ever driven a 4 wheel drive rally car on tarmac!

The Wales Rally GB presented the young driver with a whole series of new experiences. Driving through the misty forests with virtually no visibility demanded concentration and trust in your co-driver and Conrad showed both with some strong times in his Pirelli shod Geoff Jones Motorsport run Subaru Impreza.

"Wales Rally GB was a really difficult rally but I learned a lot this weekend. It's been a really long season and now I can't wait to go home to de-frost! However I am really looking forward to returning next year.

Considering 2006 was a learning year Conrad's achievements far outweigh his youthful age and certainly earmark him as one to watch in the future.
