Warrington twins Daniel and Clive Dunbabin are getting ready to take on the cream of French driving talent when they compete in the Charlemagne Rally in France on July 6/7th.

The Cheshire chargers will be looking to be one of the main contenders in the Peugeot Super 106 Cup section of the rally, which is the Peugeot championship's only trip abroad in the 2001 season. Also new for the French event is a brand new livery for the pocket rocket, further emphasising the crew's relationship with Shropshire Rally School.

Fresh from an encouraging start to the season at May's Rally of Wirral, where Dan set a number of Top 5 times as he battled his way to 10th Peugeot overall, the 25 year old is raring to go again as he faces up to the demanding tarmac stages that the French countryside has to offer:

"This is going to be our first rally outside of the UK, but I've worked on rallies on the continent before so it isn't a total culture shock. The stages are long and you need absolute concentration 100% of the time. I've been training hard at the gym recently as the first stage of the rally alone is over 10 miles long, so we'll have to be ready to give it our best from the start."

The twins are looking to build on a successful 2000 season, where they narrowly missed out on winning the prestigious BTRDA Gold Star Rally Championship after an unfortunate accident whilst leading on the final round. Despite not winning the overall title, the brothers served further notice of their abundant talent, following on from their win in the Skoda Trophy Championship of 1999.

Shropshire Rally School, where Danny is a well-known face as a rally instructor, sponsors the duo in their rallying exploits. The SRS team will be supporting the Dunbabin's efforts throughout the year as they take on all their rivals in the hope of winning the cut-throat Peugeot one make series and winning the ultimate prize - a factory "works" car for 2002.

On return from France, the Peugeot championship heads for South Wales and the Enterprise Rally on July 21st, where Danny will be on his favourite surface of gravel as he pushes hard for a Peugeot Super 106 Cup category win on stages he knows well.
