11th Ronde d'Ajoie (CH) - August 24th 2002

Impressive second win for leading Jaquillard (Future World)

Thanks to their win at the Ronde d'Ajoie (round 5), Christian and Christiane Jaquillard are now leading the 2002 Swiss Rally Championship. With a second victory to his credit, Jaquillard is 14 point ahead of Impreza WRC 2001's Uzzeni, who finished the race in fifth.

Jaquillard set the pace in SS1 but he made a small mistake in SS2. The engine remained still and the Future World driver lost 30 seconds. At the first service, time for rush was coming. Changing weather conditions were making tyres choices very hazardous. But Jaquillard was the best player and he succeeded to catch the first position driving always on the edge. The triple Swiss champion was just on the lead when Aithaus (Escort WRC), classified second, retired. Win was definitely achieved. While rival Uzzeni has taken fifth position, Sulmoni (Lancer Evo6 Gr.N) finished second overall... four seconds ahead of Schneeberger family (Sierra Cosworth 4x4).

-" When Christian came to Future World to buy a Corolla WRC, smiled Gerard Magniette team manager, he asked us if Future World had a car for him to win the Swiss championship. I told him that he could achieve his project with one of our Corolla. I wasn't lying... "

Performing Toyota Corolla WRC since 1999, Future World is also leading current Belgian competition (R. Theunissen). Antwerpen-based squad has won eight rallies in 2002 and is still classified third of the European Rally Championship (L. Kuzaj). Next rally for Future World is Omloop van Vlaanderen/Tour of Flanders with Theunissen-Genten (B/B).
