Silverstone 12th August 2000:.Simon Mauger has been crowned the inaugural Ford Racing Puma Rally Champion having won the fourth round of the Ford Racing Puma Rally Championship, the Silverstone Rallysprint in a convincing fashion. Simon has dominated this years Championship taking three wins and a second place on the last four rounds, a total that cannot be beaten.

The fourth round of the Championship also attracted Peugeot 106 Cup star Max McKillen. Max drove brilliantly, battling over the days opening stages with Mauger, however a spin on Stage three ruined his hopes of victory. Ben Briant had a difficult day damaging a front hub on the morning practice session. Briant continued with a ill handling car to take a well deserved third place.

The equality of the cars and the standard of driving was reinforced by the results of the Rallysprint when only 0.7 of a second separated the crews after the first stage.

"I am absolutely thrilled to have won both the Rallysprint and the Ford Racing Puma Rally Championship, it is a dream come true. It has been a very tough Championship, I have had to fight every step of the way, it was impossible to relax. I am really looking forward to the prize drive in San Remo later in the year" said Simon.
