Alastair Prepares for British Rally Championship Challenge

For Team UK Member Alastair Fisher, the 2010 rally season is one he is relishing. Having finished third in the British Rally Championship last year, the Co. Tyrone driver is returning to the British series with his familiar Evo 9 and the experience of his first season in a Group N car under his belt. "We have retained the Group N Mitsubishi Evo 9 we used last season, but it's been extensively rebuilt by Gerry McGarrity Motorsport over the winter, and I am also pleased that Rory Kennedy will once again be in the co-driver's seat for the 2010 season."

The Irish Tarmac Championship has already kicked things of in style for Alastair with a fine fourth place overall finish and first Group N car home on the Galway International Rally.

Although the forests of Wales will be a different challenge on the Bulldog, Alastair is looking forward to the event. "The Bulldog rally last year was actually my first rally in a four wheel drive car, but we have gained a lot more experience since then, and we carried out about 40 miles of testing last week which helped me fine tune some new settings into the car. This season is going to be very competitive but I am really looking forward to the BRC opener."

Alastair has benefitted from a training session with the new Team UK scheme. "I had a good chat with Mark Higgins at the first session regarding the BRC and spent two days at the Porsche driving centre at Silverstone, where I had a fitness assessment and picked up some interesting facts regarding the developments of rally safety from an FIA safety delegate. It all helps with your build-up for the season ahead and it puts you in the correct mind set."

Alastair is pleased to announce that he has gained additional support from Revolution Wheels, DMS Suspension, G.R White & Son Electrical and Euro M- Sport as well as continued backing from Drumhoney Holiday Park and Herrons Country Fried Chicken for the season ahead.

Saturday marks the start of the BRC with the Bulldog International Rally were Alastair is seeded at No.7 and stiff opposition is expected from Irish crews alone, with reigning BRC Champion Keith Cronin now Pirelli Subaru mounted, Jonny Greer in his familiar Evo 9, and Craig Breen in his Super 2000 Fiesta. With a mix of other top crews the BRC is still a big proving ground for rallying talent.
