John MacCrone steps up to the BRC stage with generous assistance from tyre giant, Hankook

UK, May 24 2010 -- Rising rally star John MacCrone is taking full advantage of winning the inaugural Hankook SRC Junior Prize Drive with an assault on the BRC in a Ford Fiesta.

2009 was a remarkable season for the apprentice joiner from Dervaig, who also won the Scottish Junior Championship, the SRC Class 3 title, and the 1.6 class in the Brick & Steel Ecosse 205 Challenge at the wheel of his Peugeot 205 GTi

Hankook motorsport manager Mike Patterson is delighted that Hankook's contribution will enable John and co-driver Stuart Loudon to undertake a full season in the BRC in order to showcase his undoubted potential: "John was an extremely worthy winner of the first Hankook Prize Drive and we are delighted to be helping support his efforts in the BRC.

"This is the perfect platform for him to further his rallying career and really make a name for himself on some extremely tough events."

John MacCrone said: "We are gaining valuable experience for the future and we are now looking forward to the next round at the end of May when the BRC comes to Scotland and moves onto asphalt for the Jim Clark Rally'' said John. "Hopefully my experience from competing on the Tour of Mull will give me a competitive edge."

John's original prize of a prize drive in one event on the 2010 Chinese Rally Championship has been swapped for this BRC support -- a decision supported by all parties in a bid to give John the best possible chance of success in 2010.

Hankook has this year increased its commitment and support to young drivers through the Hankook/Colin McRae Vision Junior development programme which now encompasses leading championships in England, Scotland and Wales.
