BRC's Pirelli Star Driver shines in IRC

Last weekend saw reigning British Rally Champion and current Pirelli Star Driver Keith Cronin and co-driver Barry McNulty contest the ninth round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, showing good speed on the Czech asphalt event.

Their Proton Satria debut, just a week after a Dulux Trade MSA British Rally Championship boosting outing in Ulster, proved that the pace at the front of the current BRC is strong and is testament to the success of both the British Isles' premier rally series and tyre partner Pirelli's desire to make the championship a training and nurturing ground for young drivers..

Not only has the competitiveness of the championship attracted talented drivers from outside the UK, but the Pirelli funded scheme has been even-handed when choosing both finalists and winners. Since its inception in 2007, BRC Pirelli Star Driver winners have come from England and both sides of the Irish border, while finalists have hailed from as far afield as Sweden and Finland.

"It is really satisfying to see that our current British Champion has the commitment and speed to compete with the best in Europe. Keith drove extremely well on Rally Barum and as we have seen on rounds of the British Rally Championship over the past two years, he really is a star in the making." said Championship boss, Mark Taylor.

"The BRC is working well in providing a place where young drivers can develop and shine. I am absolutely confident that we will discover more potential world beating talent from the ranks of the BRC over the next few years."
