Williams takes fourth on Rally GB National event

Brecon based Sara Williams proved once and for all that she is more than capable of taking the fight to her male counterparts in the high speed world of rallying when the 21 year old finished fourth overall in the Rally GB National rally last weekend. Sara was co-driven by Patrick Walsh in a Brecon Car Rentals, Brecon Motors and Millers Oil supported Subaru Impreza N12b.

Sara began the six stage national rally with a slow speed spin on the opening test through Radnor Forest where she dropped 25 seconds to her rivals. She then redeemed herself with a string of top four stage times over the duration of the opening day and then set about consolidating her position on the final day of action. Second fastest through the world famous Margam Stage was the highlight of a very successful weekend.

This weekend was one of the best weekends of rallying all year. Everything went so well, apart from the spin on the first stage, and I had so much fun over Epynt. At the end of the first day we were amazed to be fourth overall and Patrick and I agreed to just hold position on the final day and not risk doing anything silly. Before the event I would have been happy with a top ten finish but to end the weekend fourth overall is a dream come true. Now I am really looking forward to 2011!

I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout the year. Your support has been a great inspiration to me!

Sara recently won the John Easson award for up and coming rally drivers and will contest the full BTRDA and Welsh National Championship next year. The 21 year old is also contemplating tackling a selection of British Rally Championship events if the additional budget can be found.
