The weekend started miserabely for Team Wieth Racing. It was not possible to find the correct Set Up for the very narrow circuit at Oschersleben. Instead of getting better, it seemed like getting worse with every change we tried - no matter in which direction.
The result of it was P 21 during the morning qualifying session, due to massive understeering. The only way out was to return to the set up that worked during last round at Anderstorp and try to come at least in front of the the NGT-cars during Qualifying 2. This plan was foiled by an accident in the second lap.
The result was position 21 on the grid at the homerace and a frustrated team.
Nevertheless the car was prepared perfectly for next days race. Starting driver Wolfgang Kaufmann managed to overtake all N.GT cars the were in front of him during the first two laps - not easy on a track like Oschersleben. After an hour of constantly fast lap times he handed over the car to second driver Paolo Biglieri on Position 13. Paolo did a fantastic job during his stint and could improve to P 11 before Elmar Grimm started to do the last stint.
Elmar began very fast but had some bad luck when during the Safety Car period the temparature in the car started to become unbearable. Nevertheless he did not stop fighting and crossed the line on P9. Due to the disqualifying of the racewinning Lister and the Konrad Saleen the team slipped on Place 7 after the race and was rewarded two championship points.
At least a happy end for the team after a weekend of hard work and dissapointments.
