BLANCKLEY LOOKS TO PREVIOUS WINS TO INSPIRE STRONG RESULTS AT SNETTERTON

North East driver Simon Blanckley is looking back to his past dominance at the Snetterton circuit to help his team sibsport move up in the championship standings when the latest rounds of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) hit the Norfolk track this weekend.

Despite his relative inexperience in racing terms, Blanckley was in total control during his last visit to Snetterton in 2006. Racing in the LMA Euro Saloons championship, driving one of his ex-BTCC Honda Accord 'Super Tourers', Blanckley qualified on pole with a record series lap and proceeded to win the race comfortably.

Blanckley is looking to maintain his success at Snetterton but on more realistic levels this year, driving his Honda Integra. "2006 was a great result, but it's a totally different situation this year in my debut BTCC season. We are confident, though. Braking will be tough here but we haven't had any problems with the brakes so far this year. Aerodynamically the car is strong, so everything points to a competitive meeting. Realistically one or two point's finishes in the three races on Sunday is the aim."

Speaking about the disappointing results in the previous few races, Blanckley is sure that another point's finish will come soon. "We have the pace to be in the points regularly - it's proven on the timesheets. We have just had misfortune recently," says Blanckley.

Blanckley's personal success at Snetterton isn't the only unique factor that benefits the sibsport team. Graham Hathaway Engineering, who prepare and run the sibsport Honda Integra at each BTCC event, is based only a short journey away from the track in Maldon, Essex. "We are here all the time; it's almost like a second home, and the same goes for Brands Hatch," says team manager Graham Hathaway. "We probably know a lot more about the track than some of the other teams, as we are here running other cars in other championships or track days throughout the year." The experience Graham Hathaway Engineering has at the fast, flowing circuit will be invaluable to the cars setup, as Hathaway explains: "Although we've never run the Integra around Snetterton, we should be able to sort the set up fairly early on in practice and dial in some quick laps in preparation for qualifying and the three races."
