Nash, currently 5th in the overall title race had a good day with only two of his championship rivals finishing ahead of him in qualifying. Further, in the Independent Driver’s standings in which Nash is a close 2nd he finished ahead of both Mat Jackson (9th) and Andrew Jordan (8th), his main rivals for the award.

James Nash #14: “ I’m really pleased with P5. Coming into the weekend with all the extra weight we’ve been given by the series organisers, the aim was a top 10. After Free Practice this morning I was quietly confident we could achieve top 6, so to do just that is really pleasing. Mind you, looking at the front row (both non-turbo cars) it does seem that normally aspirated are the cars to have now.”

“Its good too to have out-qualified Mat Jackson and Andrew Jordan in the Independents. Racing may of course be very different but at least I’ll be starting ahead of them both.”

“In race one I’ll be pushing as hard as I can. You’ve got to keep pushing yourself and try and see how high you can get.”

Ian Harrison. Chairman Triple Eight “ Not a bad day. It might have been better, we’re just a couple of tenths off pole but 5th and splitting the two works Hondas is pretty good.”
