Vauxhall Motorsport's Yvan Muller celebrated his second double-pole of the season, after beating all comers in Saturday's Qualifying session at Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire. Joining him on the front row for both of Sunday's races is his Astra Coupe team-mate and current BTCC leader Jason Plato from Oxford. This is Muller's second double-pole of the 2001 season.
Third and fourth places go to Egg Sport Vauxhall Astra Coupe drivers James Thompson from Yorkshire and West Midlands' Phil Bennett.
Yvan Muller, Car 4, Vauxhall Astra Coupe Sprint -- pole - 1:27.644, Feature -- pole - 1:27.415 "I wasn't driving well early in that session - I had to give myself a good talking to! Then once I got it together my time came down well. I'm really happy with two pole positions, but I will have to fight hard with Jason and James (Thompson) for race wins tomorrow."
Jason Plato, Car 5, Vauxhall Astra Coupe Sprint -- 2nd - 1:27.748, Feature -- 2nd - 1:27.608 "Its good to start from the front row, but I'm disappointed I couldn't get pole. Starts are one of my strengths, so there look like being two great races ahead of me this weekend. The circuit seems quite hard on the brakes; in the races I will have to be gentle with the Astra Coupe, particularly in the longer Feature race."
James Thompson, Car 9, Vauxhall Astra Coupe Sprint - 3rd - 1:27.798, Feature - 3rd - 1:27.821
Phil Bennett, Car 27, Vauxhall Astra Coupe Sprint - 4th - 1:28.079, Feature - 4th - 1:27.984
