Morgan unveils new 2013 Toyota Avensis challenger

Staying with the Toyota brand in 2013, Ciceley Racing’s team owner/driver Adam Morgan released the first photo of his new car for the 2013 British Touring Car Championship.

Adam Morgan and his newly formed Ciceley Racing team are preparing for the 2013 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season with their Next Generation spec Toyota Avensis and a completely new livery.

Morgan first drove in the BTCC last season for Speedworks in a similar Toyota Avensis which was funded for by Ginetta after he won the 2011 Ginetta Supercup and received the drive as a prize for winning that series.

Sadly for Morgan his first race weekend of 2012 at Brands Hatch was to set the tone for his season where he was hit off heavily at the first corner of the first lap in race 1 and after the team worked miracles to get him out for race 3, again he crashed heavily as he was one of 7 cars to go off on an oil slick at turn 2.

Following that Morgan showed great pace particularly in qualifying with several top 10 starts and a best position of 5th on the grid at Snetterton. Sadly though for the Preston racer he could never turn that into a top finish with Morgan continuing to suffer from a tremendous amount of bad luck albeit some of it, self inflicted and could only manage a best position of 8th in race 2 at Silverstone and finished the season a hugely disappointing season 19th in the championship with 50points.

Morgan confirmed that his car for 2013 will be based on the ex-Frank Wrathall/Dynojet shell from 2011 but will have all the latest 2013 upgrades fitted. The former Ginetta racer also said that the build is currently well under way and that he hopes to have the car ready to get in some testing prior to the start of the season saying, “The Toyota has just returned from the paint shop and the metallic blue base colour looks absolutely stunning. Currently it’s stripped back to a bare shell and we’ve just started building it up, I can’t wait to see how the finished car will look. The plan is to have it finished mid-February so we can begin testing later that month. We have 90 per cent of the parts assembled already and the build is going well.”
