Team Aon stormed to its third consecutive pole position in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship today at the Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire, thanks to Tom Onslow-Cole setting the fastest lap in 1:27.330.

This morning's free practice had seen team-mate Tom Chilton lead the field in both sessions with a best overall time of 1:27.658. The 25-year-old driver was unable to secure the targeted P1 slot however, after a lengthy pit stop affected his Ford Focus' brake performance levels. He will start tomorrow's first race on row three of the grid, after setting his best qualifying lap in 1:27.566.

Securing pole fell to Onslow-Cole who rose to the challenge by setting the fastest qualifying lap around the 2.26 mile circuit with just over 10 minutes left of the session. His time remained unchallenged, earning him his first pole position of the season.

Tom Onslow-Cole:

"I'm thrilled, and I have to admit, a little bit surprised! My pace wasn't as strong in free practice and we weren't too sure on how to catch Tom [Chilton] up but the tweaks between free practice two and qualifying worked.

"The lap didn't feel that quick but it was extremely smooth, despite pushing really hard throughout. It's often the case though, a more aggressive lap can result in a slower time despite looking quicker. This was perfect; I'm really pleased and obviously aiming for wins tomorrow."

Tom Chilton:

"I was fastest in both free practices so I'm disappointed. I ran second fastest for the first part of the session, which is closer to the pace we have in the car. Unfortunately I stopped for scrutineering for too long and my brakes overheated. Considering the way the car was handling afterwards, P5 is a fairly good result. There are three races tomorrow though and I will be aiming to finish at the front."

Mike Earle, Team Principal:

"I'm pleased for Tom Onslow-Cole, the changes we made to his car before qualifying really paid off. Both drivers are well placed for tomorrow's racing, although it's unfortunate for Tom Chilton; we had the pace to lock out the front row."
