WORLD-FAMOUS SILVERSTONE CIRCUIT IS NEXT STOP FOR UK'S TOP MOTOR RACING SERIES

There is now little more than a week to go before the UK's most popular motor racing series - the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship - roars into high-speed action at the world-famous Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire (Sunday 22 August).

BTCC race day at Silverstone annually attracts a bumper crowd: it's easily accessible from the M1 and M40 motorways, grandstand seating overlooking the track is free and the short National circuit being raced on by the BTCC means plenty of laps for trackside spectators to savour. Indeed, its high-speed lay-out has a reputation for producing some of the most exciting and controversial moments of the season. What's more this year's special family-focused 'Top Guns' entertainment package includes not only the very best of thrilling on-track competition but also the added bonus of spectacular air shows in the skies above.

The BTCC arrives at Silverstone just as its 2010 title race is starting to hot up having taken a twist in last weekend's round at Snetterton, Norfolk. There, Oxford's Jason Plato took two wins to move past arch rival Matt Neal into a sizeable championship lead.

Plato will be hoping to build on that lead at Silverstone which is also a home track for his Wellingborough-based Silverline Chevrolet team. But Honda Racing Team driver Neal will be eager to hit back - particularly in front of a sizeable gathering of Honda owners who will be there to celebrate the manufacturer's 'Red H' Type R models of recent years.

Meanwhile, Silverstone, is a home track for a number of other top BTCC drivers, namely James Nash (Newport Pagnell), double Silverstone winner in 2009 Mat Jackson (Warwick), his Airwaves BMW team-mate Steven Kane (Brixworth) and Andy Neate (Aylesbury) who will be bravely returning to the track for the first time since he was almost killed there in a sportscar crash two years ago.

An open paddock policy will also allow the public plenty of access to the BTCC drivers as will the popular Pit Lane Walkabout session when fans can meet the stars of the show for autographs, photos and team give-aways. Furthermore, admission to the whole event for children aged 15 and under is FREE!

The BTCC is in action three times at Silverstone (Sun 22 Aug) while fans will be further entertained by nine more races from a variety of top-class supporting categories ranging from sportscars (Ginetta Juniors, G50s and Porsche Carreras), saloons (Renault Clios) and single-seaters (Formula Renaults).

And the fantastic line-up of entertainment continues overhead with 'Silverstone Air' - two days (on the Saturday and Sunday) of breathtaking displays from the likes of a WWII Spitfire, the country's only active Vulcan bomber, Breitling Wingwalkers and the world-famous RAF Red Arrows aerobatics team.

Race day tickets to Silverstone's 2010 round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship bought in advance cost £27 per adult or £32 for the weekend (weekend tickets cannot be purchased on the day). To book in advance: www.silverstone.co.uk or 0844 3728 260. Advance purchases can be made up until midday Wednesday 18 August.
