Podium in sight thanks to a charge from Cramp at the Creek.

After enduring a high speed spin due to a clutch problem that sidelined his car yesterday, CVW Manta Racing driver Steve Cramp has displayed a show of strength today at Eastern Creek Raceway, charging through the Donut King Australian Performance Car Championship field in this afternoon's second 10-lap race, as round three of the series continues this weekend at the 3.9km Western Sydney Circuit.

Utilizing the strong power and braking capacities that the car has consistently shown this year, Cramp charged to an eventful 7th place in today's race, making up an astounding 12 positions in an inspired drive through what is a highly competitive and tightly bunched Performance Car field.

Cramp's charge saw the VZ HSV Commodore pass almost half the field in just two laps -- the CVW Engineering car laying 10th at the conclusion of two laps of racing. The Adelaide based driver moved to 9th on the next circulation, maintaining the position for a number of laps before picking up a further two positions in the final few laps of the race.

"It was a tremendous race, really good," Enthused Cramp this afternoon. "We utilized the brakes and power the car has to move our way through the field to 7th position. We got a few love taps along the way, but that's what you get when you have to come from the back.

"Our starting position for tomorrow's final race could be even better, as there has been some protests after the race which will possibly see us move to 6th place in the final results from today." He said.

And every position will count for tomorrow's race, Cramp firm in his belief that the team will be a legitimate podium challenger in the final 10 lapper, set to be held early tomorrow afternoon.

"I'm feeling really confident that we will be a podium challenger tomorrow. Im really happy with the speed and general performance the car has. It's certainly a faster than some of the cars ahead of us, so we are aiming at nothing less than a top three result in tomorrow's final race."

And after a number of tough race results that have seen the team's challenge for the title falter somewhat, The HSV said that he has re assessed his goals for the remainder of the season.

"To be honest, the championship is probably a little beyond reach of us at this stage, thanks to the tough weekend's we had at Wakefield, and before that Adelaide," he said. "So we have re assessed our goals for this year, and it's pretty clear to see that we have the pace to challenge at the front -- therefore we are going out in each race aiming at nothing less than a podium position.

"If we can grab some podiums and some wins this season, we'll keep the sponsors happy results wise, and it should make up somewhat for not being able to challenge for the championship like we intended to do with our new car this year."

Steve Cramp and the CVW Manta Racing team's drive to that podium place will continue tomorrow, when the Donut King Australian Performance Car Championship field takes to the track for it's final 10 lap race at 12:40pm.
