Bathurst local lodges first 12 Hour Entry

Bathurst native, Matthew Windsor with his Subaru Impreza 2.5 is the first confirmed entry for the Bathurst 12 Hour Showroom Enduro, 12 – 14 February 2010.

Windsor who has driven the car the past three years, recently purchased the car from fellow 12 Hour competitor Jim Hunter.

"I was going to go up a class but then Jim told me he was going to sell his car. I had to buy it, it's a bit sentimental to me as we've been running it the past 3 years and last year we won the class," said Windsor.

This is the first time the automotive shop owner has driven his own car and will be driving with local mates Paul Newman and Steven Shiels.

"We're all local and have driven together before. It's the same team as last year. We work well together and plan to win the class again," said Windsor.

The local team will compete in Class E (Production Small) and the Subaru is again expected to be a class frontrunner. 1966 Bathurst winner Bob Holden is also expected to challenge for class honours in the same class driving a Toyota Yaris.

"The Bathurst 12 Hour is well support by the Bathurst community and this is just one such example of the locals embracing the Event," explained Event Promoter James O'Brien.

"I have no doubt that Matthew and his team will field a very competitive class entry, in an effort to defend his 2009 Class title."

The Bathurst 12 Hour Showroom Enduro is now in its 4th year, with a grid of over 50 cars expected to compete. The race features production cars in a class structure representative of the mass road going market.

BMW, Mitsubishi, Ford, Holden, Nissan and Subaru are expected to compete for outright honours, while an Alternative Energy class is open to diesel, hybrid and LPG entries.

The Event will be televised in a 3 hour special on the SEVEN Network, through Fox Sports, New Zealand and other International Markets.
