Bathurst 12H: David Wall qualifying report

Double Australian GT Champion David Wall and his Wall Racing Team will start in 6th place for the 2011 Armor All Bathurst 12-hour.

Joining David in his #38 Wilson Security Porsche GT3 Cup S will be his good friend Barton Mawer and 2006 Australian GT Champion, Greg Crick.

"Of course I would like to be further up the grid, but I am happy with 6th given how much trouble we had with traffic. Traffic is just part of a race like this!" said David.

"The car feels great and I am sure we have a solid package for the race tomorrow.

"We only have a few minor changes to make to the car this afternoon and we will be ready for the big race tomorrow.

"This may be my last opportunity to race this car that has been so good to me over the last two years; we have won two GT championships together and I am hoping to go out with a good result!"

The family run Wall Racing team will also run the #39 Porsche 997 GT3 Cup and share a garage with the #43 Alan East Mitsubishi EVO IX GSR.

The combination of Paul Tressider, Shane Smollen and Simon Middleton in the #39 Porsche had a strong qualifying result and will start the race in 11th place, and 2nd in their class.

The Easts Holiday Parks Mitsubishi also qualified well in 18th outright and 2nd in their class.

David and Barton have raced together successfully in endurance races previously including the 2008 and 2009 Malaysian Merdeka Millennium Endurance 12 hour races in Sepang. The pair scored a podium finish there in 2008.

Barton has raced in previous endurance races at the mountain and also competed in the 2008 Australian Porsche Carrera Cup.

Greg Crick, 2006 Australian GT Champion will add to the experience and success of the team.

Supporting David and the team at the Armor All Bathurst 12-hour will be loyal sponsors Wilson Security, Shannons and Mount Aqua, with Paynter Dixon also sponsoring the team.

Cheering the team on at the track will be a contingent of over 70 people, with everyone from the car owners, mechanics, sponsors and family heading to the track this weekend.
