WILSON BROTHERS RACING - RACING FOR A CURE MEDIA

The Wilson Brothers Racing Subaru WRX Sti crew ticked many boxes on the opening day of practice at Mount Panorama today in readiness for Sunday's Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour.

Team drivers David Wood, Kurt Wimmer and Lee Castle all took turns behind the wheel during the twin one-hour long sessions, as the team tuned the machine for the 6.12km circuit.

Wood and Wimmer shared the morning session to be 17th fastest, with Castle and Wood taking the wheel in the wet-dry afternoon session, with the 16th quickest time resulting.

Although ultimate pace wasn't on the menu, the team stuck to their program, and promise more speed tomorrow.

"The day really went according to plan, and all of the drivers got a good feel for the car and the track," said Wilson Brothers Racing team principal Cameron Wilson.

"We're looking to step up the pace a bit tomorrow in qualifying, but we are very happy with how everything is going so far.

"The car was one of the quickest cars in the wet part of the session today, it was David's first time in the wet here, and the handling package of the car really shone through."

On the eve of the 12 Hour, the team was pleased to announce a new major sponsor in the form of Redken 5th Ave NYC For Men, which will adorn the flanks of the number-two Subaru WRX Sti over the 12 hour race.

Wimmer and Castle will take the wheel for the early morning practice session, with qualifying to follow tomorrow afternoon.

Wilson Brothers Racing would like to acknowledge the continued support of Redken For Men, Gold Coast Indoor Hire Karts, Castrol, Racing Logic, Mercury Motorsport, EcuTek, Ingear Industries, Elan Mens Salons, L'Oreal Paris Men Expert, RLS Data & Electrical, Gametraders Townsville, John Muller Tyres Plus, Contacting Public Relations, Racer Industries and Subaru Sti Australia for their assistance in team's 12 hour efforts.

Driver Quotes

David Wood

"The car really is going well and feels very good, all three drivers are equally matched, I think it all looks good.

"The handling of the car was exceptional, even in the wet the four-wheel-drive gave the car as much confidence as it had in the dry, which says a lot.

"I wouldn't read too much into the current pace, the boys will definitely go quicker tomorrow."

Kurt Wimmer

"It was my first ever time in a four-wheel-drive car today, and it was a real eye opener.

"Obviously I've raced here in V8 Supercars and V8 Utes, the brakes in the Subaru are incredible, if you use the V8 Ute braking points you just about have to accelerate back up to the corners.

"I'm sure with a couple more laps tomorrow, we'll be on the pace come Sunday."

Lee Castle

"All in all it was a pretty good first day, and we achieved a lot of sorting with the car.

"I think we are right on schedule, and compared to last year we have really made some positive steps with the handling of the car.

"I'm really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel in the morning, bring on the race."
