The weekend of 29-30 November is crunch time in the 2003 CAMS State Championship, as the season draws to a close with several titles still up for grabs.

Perhaps the most hard fought victory will be in the HQ Holdens, were four drivers are covered by seven points coming into the final round, with a total of 12 points on offer.

Brett Cooper currently leads the championship, but he has Paul McCahon, Michael McCloud, and Gary Marks breathing down his neck, all in with a shot at the title.

The Improved Production will also be a fight to the death, with eight points separating defending champion Adam Uebergang, Steve Draheim, Scott Duncan and Mark Thomas.

Uebergang holds the advantage going into the finale by six points, but expect some other fast cars to be thrown into the mix after racing in southern states throughout the year.

The most wide open of all of the titles on offer is the Historic Touring Cars, with anyone capable of leaving with the title due to the fact that there will be a pair of pointscoring races.

John English is presently leading from Garry Brown and Bruce Dummett.

There is a three way fight for the Gemini crow, with John Eddy leading fellow Gold Coast racer Nick Rangeley, and Kandice Walker.

The twist in this title fight will be along the lines of the controversial V8 Supercar title, with each driver dropping their worst round score.

In the Saloon Cars, Gavin Sadler currently tops the points table by seven points to Troy Hoey and Troy Norris.

Chris Donnelly only has to score the bonus point for pole position in the Sports Sedan qualifying session to take out his third title from Bob McLoughlin, with a close fight looming for third between Colin Smith and Chris Fing.

The Formula Fords will also fight it out until the final corner, with two more rounds of their title to be held.

Chris Gilmour currently leads the standings from Shannon O'Brien, while Derek Pingel wrapped up the outright Racing Car title at the last round at Morgan Park.

Steve Morcombe has been the class of the Sports Car field all season long, and has already wrapped up both the outright title and the production sports class in his Westfield.

Shane Hart is another to tie up the championship early, winning his third Formula Vee title from Trent Usher and Tristian Hughes.

Also appearing on the program will be the incredibly quick Superkarts, who had a one round championship that was won by Warren McIllveen.
