TRANZAM SPORTS SEDAN NATIONAL SERIES TO RECEIVE BOOST TO NUMBERS FOR OPENING ROUND AT PHILLIP ISLAND IN MAY

The TranZam Sports Sedan National Series was approached by the Victorian Sports Sedan Association with a brilliant idea to combine the opening round of the 2005 National Series with the third round of the 2005 Sports Sedan Club Championship.

In what might have seemed a logistical nightmare, the Victorian Sports Sedan Association had been looking to expand with another round and the National Series offered the best dates and venue in the 21-22 May at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit run under the newly formed Australian Motor Racing Series (AMRS).

Ian Baird from the Victorian Sports Sedan Series was delighted that adjustments could be made to the National regulations (currently awaiting final confirmation from the AMRC) that will see the National series opened up to all Sports Sedan competitors throughout 2005. "It was purely an idea that the committee had been floating and we approached the National Series who were delighted to join forces", Ian went on to say "We are making some changes to our regulations to start under a rolling start but what an awesome sight 35 plus Sports Sedans thundering down the straight into turn one will make".

National Category manager Phil Crompton was equally thrilled with the idea and when proposed he was straight to the point "The National Series combined with the Victorian Club Championship at Phillip Island offers the fastest bang for your buck in the country. Competitors, media, officials and especially spectators would be crazy to miss it". "We are thrilled to have the Victorian Sports Sedan Association involved and as supportive as they have been, and the first round cannot come quick enough for me"

The entry fee for all State level competitors will be on par with their current Victorian State entry fees and with excellent publicity following the AMRS both National and State series can expect good crowd numbers and wide spread exposure over the weekend. The AMRS heads to Wakefield Park this weekend for its inaugural round and for all the latest information about this new National Series logo onto www.amrs.net.au
