Howard Racing Pumped and Ready for Phillip Island

Betta Electrical/BreakFree Howard Racing drivers, Adam Macrow and Mark Howard are fully prepared for the final round of the 2005 HPDC V8 Supercar Championship at Phillip Island this weekend.

Both Macrow and Howard have completed their final test session in the lead up to the event and are expecting to finish the year on a high note based on there recent testing results.

Macrow, out to claim as many championship points as possible after leading the series for the first half of the year now sits in sixth position following a disastrous round at Mallala in August.

"I managed to salvage a few points at the previous round of the series at Bathurst, however, next weekend I am just striving for a great overall position to push me up as far up the championship ladder as possible," Macrow said.

"Ideally, I am striving for the round win, to not only assist my position in the championship but also to say thanks to Mark [Howard] and the team at Betta Electrical/BreakFree Howard Racing for all their help throughout the year."

Victorian-born Macrow will celebrate his 27th birthday on the Wednesday prior to Phillip Island and will use the experience he has gained racing on the circuit throughout his career to his advantage.

"I really like the Phillip Island circuit and was happy that championship organisers decided to include it in the series after a year's absence," Macrow stated.

"After growing up in Victoria and racing on the circuit a number of times over the years, hopefully my previous experience at the track will help me obtain a strong result when the chequered flag falls on Sunday afternoon for the final time this year."

Betta Electrical/BreakFree Howard Racing Team Principal, Mark Howard also benefited from the test day which saw the team complete their final preparations for Phillip Island.

"The car performed well during the test day and I am looking forward to getting back to Phillip Island next weekend after the circuit was left off the 2004 calendar," Howard stated.

"Phillip Island is a fast circuit and is sure to produce some great racing. It [Phillip Island] is definitely one of my favourite tracks and with the progress made at the last test day I think we are sure to have a great result."

According to Betta Electrical/BreakFree Howard Racing Team Manager, Warren Davis, with both Macrow and Howard liking the Phillip Island circuit the team is hopeful of a great result for both the #27 and #37 cars.

"Traditionally, if a driver likes a track, they will do well at it," Davis said, "With Mark [Howard] and Adam [Macrow] both looking forward to racing at Phillip Island, hopefully the team will be able to record a great result as a nice finish to the year."

"A lot of hard work has been put in by the team preparing for next weekend and this combined with the experienced obtained throughout the year should work in our favour."

Round seven of the 2005 HPDC V8 Supercar Championship will be at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit from the 25-27 November. The round will consist of two nineteen laps races, one on Saturday and Sunday.

The event is being held in conjunction with the BigPond Grand Finale, which is the final round of the 2005 V8 Supercar Championship.
