After starting his V8 Supercar career as far from his Perth home as possible, at Queensland Raceway, Mark McNally will race as close to home as it gets this weekend at South Australia 's Mallala Raceway -- albeit 2700km's away!

Mallala will host Round 5 of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series, possibly the circuit's last V8 Supercar event after it was dropped from the 2007 calendar.

Mark is no stranger to Mallala, having raced there numerous times in the Formula Ford category, but will have a challenge on his hands driving a V8 Supercar around the pokey circuit for the first time.

"It is a pretty tight, tricky track," Mark said.

"It will be a tough weekend but I am confident that both myself and the car a fully prepared for the event."

Mark has been focused on improving his qualifying performance and consistency in recent testing and is looking forward to his third V8 Supercar event.

"There are a few areas I need to continue to work on and one of them is qualifying," he said.

"There is quite an art to getting the most out of new tyres as they are only at their best for a couple of laps.

"After my first two V8 Supercar events I am pretty much hooked and can't wait to get onto the track this weekend."

Qualifying and racing will be held over Saturday and Sunday this weekend.
