SOLID STRART FOR McNALLY AT WINTON
Mark McNally has had his best race weekend practice result at Victoria's Winton raceway today after being 5th fastest in both sessions for Round 3 of the 2007 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series.
The day started in a wet way as northern Victoria had a drought-breaking 24 hours of rain which only subsided after the first session.
It was the first experience for most of the field on wet tyres, and Mark was no exception. "I thought the car would be really hard to drive in the wet," he said.
"But I soon realised that the balance was good and the car was responding well in the conditions."
Mark was fifth fastest in that session.
The track dried out for the second session allowing Mark to push hard and put in some seriously fast times.
At the end of the session he was again 5th fastest and joined the end-of-day press conference for the first time.
"The set-up was almost right," he said.
"We just need to tweak the suspension settings a little before qualifying tomorrow."
Tomorrow's events consist of qualifying and the first of three races with the remainder being held on Sunday.
