WATKINS GLEN, N.Y., Aug. 22 - The Supreme Exhaust System Products/Purity Farms Chevy Kudzu No. 95 will start 12th at 11 a.m. Sunday in the First Union Six Hours of the Glen at Watkins Glen International by virtue of Jeret Schroeder's qualifying lap at 127.71 mph Saturday afternoon. It was ninth fastest in the Can-Am class.

The Vineland, N.J., resident will start the race and then his teammates, Tom Volk of Blissfield, Mich. and Lyn St. James of Indianapolis, will take turns behind the wheel in that order. The yellow and black car is fielded by Volk's TRV Motorsport of Toledo, Ohio.

"The car was the best it's been all weekend during qualifying," said Schroeder. "We've been fighting a slight push all weekend, as have many of the other teams, but it was better that time. I think the track itself is a bit conducive to a push.

"We're fairly close to the Riley & Scotts, so if we can just keep on doing what we're doing and finish tomorrow, we should be able to make up the rest through attrition, good race strategy and good pit stops. I have great faith in this team; they always do a good job, so I'm hopeful for a good finish tomorrow."

The half-hour qualifying session was held under very hot conditions. The same is forecast for tomorrow, with a thunderstorm a possibility.

"I'm not worried about a thunderstorm because we have Goodyear tires, and they make great tires for dry or wet-track conditions," Schroeder added. The Dyson Racing team of Dorsey Schroeder (no relation), Rob Dyson and John Paul Jr. earned the pole with Dorsey Schroeder's lap at 136.854 mph during the First Union Front Row Shootout on Friday. The top two cars were determined in that qualifying session, with the remainder of the field earning their starting spots in qualifying Saturday.

Although it's definitely a long shot, TRV Motorsport drivers Schroeder and Volk are technically running for the Can-Am drivers championship this weekend since they're tied for fifth in the overall point standings going into this race. They would have to win the race while James Weaver and Butch Leitzinger scored no points, and Elliott Forbes-Robinson and Dorsey Schroeder finished 18th or worse. They'd have to score 33 more points than Weaver, 29 more than Leitzinger and 19 more than Forbes-Robinson and Dorsey Schroeder.
