Two wins and another title for BFGoodrich

BFGoodrich tyres succeeded in securing their 11th FIA Cross-Country Rally World Cup this weekend thanks to BMW X3 CC driver Nasser Al-Attiyah, winner of the 2008 UAE Desert Challenge. In Portugal, meanwhile, Stephane Peterhansel gave the brand new Mitsubishi Racing Lancer/BFGoodrich its first win out of the box.

FIA CROSS-COUNTRY RALLY WORLD CUP (round 4 of 4)
UAE DESERT CHALLENGE

An eleventh title for BFGoodrich

Having already secured the 2008 Cup for Cross-Country Bajas, BFGoodrich has gone on to claim the FIA Cross-Country Rally World Cup thanks to Qatar-based Nasser All-Attiyah who took first place on the UAE Desert Challenge with his BMW X3 CC running the new BFGoodrich All-Terrain tyre.

Nasser Al-Attiyah posted the fastest time on every one of the 2008 UAE Desert Challenge's six stages to follow on from Spaniard Carlo Sainz (Volkswagen) in the list of FIA Cross-Country Rally World Cup winners. His success also gives BFGoodrich its 11th title in the series.

With the exception of Russia's Novistski, who was also driving a BMW X3 CC/BFGoodrich, Al -Attiyah faced little opposition in the deserts of the United Arab Emirates and was able to claim all six stages to win by a margin of almost four-and-a-half minutes over his closest chaser!

Dominique Bravy (Rally-Raid Technician, BFGoodrich): "This was a positive event for the new All- Terrain tyre which proved extremely durable in the sand despite the searing heat, with temperatures exceeding the 35o.C mark. In similar conditions on the same event last year, the Rock T/A had to be replaced after 300km of stages. This time round, however, Nasser Al-Attiyah succeeded in covering more than 600km on the same set of rubber running with low tyre pressures."

BAJA PORTALEGRE 500

The Mitsubishi Racing Lancer/BFGoodrich wins first time out

Stephane Peterhansel took the spoils on the Baja Portalegre 500 with the brand new BFGoodrich-shod Mitsubishi Racing Lancer.

In extremely wet conditions, the multiple Dakar winner Stephane Peterhansel was fastest on two of the 2008 Baja Portalegre's four stages to win ahead of Portugal's Filipe Campos (BMW/BFGoodrich) who profited from the weekend to sew up the Portuguese Cross-Country Rally title.
