US Endurance ace Casey McCoy has retained seventh position and team mate Greg Slattery has held onto to finish twelfth despite riding with a suspected broken foot.
McCoy got lost on two of the sections in yesterday's 545 kilometre leg from Cobar to Narromine which cost him the opportunity to break into the top five.
McCoy realised he taken a wrong turn when he came across a farmhouse that was not in his road book.
"The bike was going really well but I got off course in second section and third sections," McCoy said.
"When I came across a Farmhouse that wasn't in the road book that horrible feeling that I had gone the wrong way crept in and I turned around.
"That cost me a bit of time and with the dust quite bad I couldn't go as fast as I would have liked.
"I have retained seventh so not too bad considering." McCoy added.
Greg Slattery soldiered on riding with two very sore knees and a suspected broken foot.
The South Australian said he is determined to finish the Safari no matter what.
"I have made it this far I can't quit now," Slattery said.
"I am on some approved pain killers so hopefully they will help me get through tomorrows 396 kilometre leg.
"I am currently in twelfth it would be amazing if I can break into the top ten with everything that has happened," Slattery said.
Honda's Jamie Cunningham remains in the lead from KTM pilots Adrian Channing and David Schwarz.
The final leg of the 2004 Australian Safari heads from Narromine to Bathurst today with the first competitors set to arrive in Russell Street just before 2.00pm.
