Rally of Morocco: TVS Sherco's Pedrero fifth after Stage 3
TVS Sherco and Hero Motorsports riders continued to make progress, with the former’s rider Joan Pedrero being fifth after Stage 3.
After all the troubles with rain and overflooded riverbeds in the Oilibya Rally of Morocco, it was slightly better in the shortened 142-km stage.
After Stage 3 from Erfoud to Erg Lihoudi, Pedrero’s teammates Adrien Metge and KP Aravind were ninth and 15th respectively.
Hero riders Joaquim Rodrigues and CS Santosh were seventh and 14th respectively.
It was again tough for the organisers on Sunday before the start of Stage 3. A two-part special test had to be rearranged and there was disruption in the original programme. The first and longer part of the stage was cancelled and there was a special test stage at noon.
Sunday´s route offered a variety of terrain and some dunes along the way.
Sunday’s activities marked the first part of the two-day marathon stage. Riders are not allowed to receive outside help as they have to stay inside a closed bivouac as per the marathon stage regulations.
This means they will have to maintain the bikes on their own without the assistance of other team members.
The final two days of the rally, which ends on Tuesday at Erfoud, will decide the outcome of this last round of the FIM Cross Country Rally World Championship.
The stage on Monday leads the field back to Erfoud with a 455-km long special test.
