Silk Way Rally: Stage 2 cancelled

Inclement weather over the past few days and a pessimistic forecast forced the cancellation of Stage 2 of the Silk Way Rally, but it wasn’t enough to dampen the spirits in the Ufa bivouac.

Continued sever weather in the Tatrstan region obliged Silk Way Rally organisers to cancel stage 2, Kazan-Ufa.Flooded tracks, mud filled fords and, most importantly, the uncertainty of the helicopters ability to guarantee the safety of the stage resulted in its cancellation. The competitors joined the rest of the rally community on the 557.66km assistance route to the final stop on the Russian leg of edition 6.

Kamaz home town welcomes Silk Way Rally

With just 2 competition kms registered, competitors were eager to get down to the business at hand. The atmosphere in the cockpits of the competitors was a mix of frustration and comprehension as the field continued east. But, spirits were boosted at half-distance of the liaison. The residents of Naberezhyne Chelny and home of Kamaz Trucks came out in mass to greet and meet the rally-raiders.
