Transsyberia Rally, Leg 12: Another best time, we're gaining on the leader
It couldn't have gone better. We were fastest over the 407 incredible special stage kilometres in the Gobi desert. With this fifth top time we shortened the gap to the leaders Christian Lavieille und Francois Borsotto by 35 minutes to 1:25 hours. The French guys are also driving a Cayenne. With just two legs left, it won't be possible to catch them by pure speed. But we'll keep pushing and we will not give in.
A perfect day with 407 ks of special stage.
Today's 407 kilometres were incredible to drive, but we didn't take any unnecessary risks and didn't make one mistake.
Behind us Pau Soler and his co-driver Laia Peinado from Team Spain have pushed the Portuguese Gameiro/Figueiredo from third into fourth. So things are going flat-out here.
Immaculate navigation required: in the Gobi desert.
The thirteenth leg of the Transsyberia Rally runs over 390 kilometres from Bayankhongor to Mongol Els. The 172 kilometre special stage leads through many rivers and almost impassable terrain. The Transsyberia Rally started on 11th July on Moscow's Red Square and finishes on 25th July in the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar after a total of over 7,000 kilometres.
Back here tomorrow,
best wishes,
Armin
