Second on Special Stage, up to Sixth Overall
This is a wild, vast country that we drive through. Hence it can take a while until the results of a special stage are published and in our hands. So my co-driver Andi Schulz and I learned during today's fourth leg that we were second fastest on yesterday's special stage which was included in leg three. We moved up to sixth overall.
After we drove 1000 kilometres yesterday over wide stretches of quite rough terrain, we had to tackle another 500 kilometres today. There was a special stage of about 30 ks on the schedule. But it was so muddy that it took the organisers' special military vehicles more than an hour to get through the first couple of hundred meters. So the stage was cancelled. That was a pity, said Andi. He is convinced we would have found a clever detour around the deep mud.
Contend: second fastest in the special stage without taking risks, up to sixth overall
Tomorrow it's another 600 kilometres vom Tyumen to Omsk. Our Cayenne goes through almost everything with its 400hp engine and all wheel drive. The performance of this near standard AWD is truly amazing.
Back here tomorrow with more news,
all the best,
Armin
