CLIO WINTER CHAMPION LLOYD TO STAR IN CHARITY KARTING SPECTACULAR

Highly regarded saloon car racer Daniel Lloyd will kick-off his motorsport year in style this coming Friday, 15th January, as part of a star-studded array of drivers competing in the annual Racing4Charity Celebrity Kart Challenge at the Autosport International Show at Birmingham's NEC.

The Huddersfield teenager, who rounded out 2009 perfectly by winning the ELF Renault Clio Winter Cup -- his first car racing title, is a regular participant in the hugely successful fundraising event which this year will run in aid of the Malaria No More UK charity.

As part of the 'Super Saloons' squad, Daniel will team-up with fellow Clio Cup racer Sam Tordoff, 2009 Ginetta Junior Vice-Champion Jake Cook and Porsche Carrera Cup GB Pro-Am1 Class Vice-Champion Robert Lawson. The line-up will be completed by two public drivers on the day.

Competing against more than 25 other teams, including drivers from Formula One, sportscar racing, touring cars, junior single-seater racing and karting, Daniel's squad will unsurprisingly be bidding for a podium finish. As always though, the chief aim will be to raise funds and awareness for the charity.

"I'm really looking forward to this year's Celebrity Kart Challenge, it's always a fantastic event to be involved in and is a lot of fun", said 17-year-old Daniel, "Last year my team's kart had some major problems with a broken throttle cable but we fought back well to finish inside the top 10. Hopefully things will go much more smoothly this year!

"There will be some tough competition and there are some very big names taking part so I'm sure the event will be another major success. Our team has a good chance of a top finish and if the race can raise anything close to the 0x00a350,000 which was raised last year, we'll all be really pleased."

The 90-minute Celebrity Kart Challenge is set to get underway at 16.15 on Friday, 15th January, in the Live Action Arena Hall at Autosport International. Live commentary of the event will be carried on www.radiolemans.com while live timing of the race will be featured on www.tsl-timing.com
