For Indy David Baca joins forces with NFL Hall of Fame's Jim Kelly and the Hunter's Hope Foundation

PITTSBURG, Calif. (August 20, 2003) -- It is with great pleasure that David Baca, partner-owner and driver of the Henkelman & Baca Motorsports American Racing Top Fuel dragster, announces today a special program with the Hunter's Hope Foundation that will unfold for the prestigious NHRA Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis Raceway Park over Labor Day weekend.

The Hunter's Hope Foundation (http://www.huntershope.org/) was established in September 1997 by former Buffalo Bills quarterback and NFL Hall of Fame member Jim Kelly and his wife Jill after their infant son was diagnosed with Krabbe disease (Globoid-Cell Leukodystrophy). For additional information about Krabbe disease visit the Krabbe Family Network informational page at http://www.krabbes.net/info.html.

"Having been fortunate to know a number of sports figures, you never know what will come as a result of those acquaintances," said Baca. "Such is the case with Jim Kelly. We had an opportunity through our relationship with Jim Kelly's group to forge a program that will allow us to expand the sport of NHRA POWERade Drag Racing beyond the mainstream enthusiasts."

"Indianapolis Raceway Park is a legendary track and a great place to promote Hunter's Hope. By teaming with Henkelman & Baca Motorsports for this event, we hope to increase awareness about Krabbe Disease as well as other leukodystrophies and to promote the need for continued research to identify new treatments and ultimately, a cure," said Jim Kelly.

An underlying goal of Foundation founders Jim and Jill Kelly is to foster an appreciation and concern for the well being of all children, and this philosophy is consistently expressed throughout all of the Foundation's activities. Jim and Jill hope through sharing Hunter's story, parents all over the world will give their children more time and love and will thank God every day for these precious little gifts of life.

"Children are the future. I love children. No matter how busy I am, I can always find time for a child. I hate to see any young person suffer. There are some things that are beyond one's control but each one of us should make an effort to make their quality of life comfortable and where possible to try and make it better," reflected Baca, who has a special ability to relate to children of all ages.

A number of support programs will be in place for Indy to insure that Hunter's Hope Foundation will receive direct benefit from their association with Henkelman and Baca Motorsports. Baca's dragster will carry a special design and color scheme featuring the Hunter's Hope Foundation (see attached rendering). Additionally, the Coca Cola Company, POWERade and NHRA will be an integral part of the success of this program.

Baca will appear at a local Kroger store on Thursday as part of an autograph signing promotion by the local Indianapolis Coca-Cola bottler. At the track, NHRA will host a kick-off press conference at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, while POWERade will maintain donation boxes throughout Indianapolis Raceway Park and will have an autograph session featuring Baca and Jim Kelly, along with several other NFL stars from the past at the POWERade Pavilion.

Donations can also be made direct to Hunter's Hope Foundation as follows:
