Wayne Boyd Joins Johnny Herbert Karting Challenge

2008 British Formula Ford Champion helps raise money for charity

London, 20 November 2008: Wayne Boyd will make his debut appearance at the Johnny Herbert Karting Challenge on Sunday by joining the ex-F1 winner and current Speedcar star to contest this year's event which takes place at The Raceway in Docklands, south-east London.

The 2008 British Formula Ford Champion (Jamun Racing), Formula Ford Festival Champion, BRDC Superstar and finalist for the 2008 McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver Award will join a whole host of top names from the world of motorsport in the popular charity event with all proceeds going to the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.

For eighteen year-old Wayne, who is currently testing with a number of F3 teams for a 2009 race seat, the Johnny Herbert Karting Challenge marks a welcome return to karting since he left competitive racing in Northern Ireland in 2007 to concentrate on his single-seater career.

The charity event, which has taken place annually since 1994, will see Wayne pitched head-to-head with other star names in a celebrity shoot out at its new home, The Raceway track in Docklands. The main three-hour endurance race will take place after practice and qualifying and a Young Guns shoot-out at midday.

Among the celebrities joining Wayne and Johnny at The Raceway include Renault F1 Team driver Lucas di Grassi, former F1 driver Riccardo Patrese, Jamun Racing team-mate James Cole, Champ Car World Series driver Dan Clarke, ITV F1 reporters Ted Kravitz and Louise Goodman, Freddie Hunt, son of F1 legend James, British athletes Darren Cambell and Ewan Thomas, actress Tina Hobly and snooker champion Steve Davis - to name a few.
