Dakar 2017, Stage 8: Hero and TVS Sherco riders make solid progress

Hero MotoSports Rally Team's CS Santosh and Joaqium Rodrigues made inroads in Stage 8 of Dakar Rally, with TVS Sherco riders Joan Pedrero and Adrien Metge also improving on Tuesday's running.

The eighth stage from Uyuni to Salta was divided into two sections as the riders started in Bolivia and crossed the border to complete the remaining part in Argentina, covering a total of 419km of the original 492km.

Indian rider Santosh started the day losing time by the first way point, but made good progress by the end of the running to be 47th in the stage, 45m28s from Ricky Barbec.

The Bangalore-born rider on his Speedbrain 450 bike improved by five places to sit 62nd in the overall standings, over seven hours behind leader KTM's Sam Sunderland.

His teammate Joaquim Rodrigues ran mostly inside the Top 10 in the Bolivian leg, but lost time and also positions in Argentina to finish 16th in Tuesday's stage.

The marginal improvement from Stage 7 was enough to put the Portuguese rider at 10th overall, a breakthrough result for the Indo-German collaboration.

The TVS Sherco riders also continued their upward trend in the rally, with Joan Pedrero having a solid run finishing fifth in the eighth stage.

The Spaniard was second in the Bolivian leg on Tuesday, but lost time after entering Argentina to drop thee places, but gained two in the overall standings to site 20th.

His French teammate Adrien Metge pretty much was ranked 25th all through the day and therefore improved to get himself inside the Top 40 to be 38th overall.
