Everyday feelings of those who are not specially famous but who dare the challenge and give a dream for those who stay behind...

GROINE DEVELOPPEMENT

Elodie Metge (Mercedes) - Fra - n°226:

"Everything is going well with Daddy (Rene Mege). It even feels like we've been doing this all our life. It was the first time we found ourselves together in the same car. We had a few scares in the dunes a few days ago. I was impressed. The descents were tough. Daddy's been great, going over them easily. The only stress was on myself. We've been lucky enough to make it to the bivouac before dark. We never got stuck on dunes. He helps me a lot in navigation. Sometimes he helps me find key points that are noted on the road book. And I help him on the driving part, I show him holes or dangerous places on the track. We talk a lot. Now we're used to each other, we have good fun in the car. I was pretty anxious before the rally started but Daddy's been very calm. My bad temper doesn't impress him at all. Everything is simple. During this Dakar I've learnt a lot on him. I knew how I would react and knew about my bad temper. I knew I had to cope with that. And I really respect him. You respect a father more than anyone. One thing's for sure, I've learnt more on him than on myself. If all goes well, we'll make it to the finish. It doesn't worry me. I'm a lot more worried about the after Dakar period. It's soon over. It went so quickly. I realise that I don't have a lot of time left to appreciate things. The return to real life will be tough."
