As you may already know, Ginaf Rally Power is going to take the challenge again. At the beginning of January the 2005 edition of the illustrious rally "Le Dakar" starts. The 27th edition of this rally will take off in Barcelona (Spain) and finish in Dakar (Senegal). After the début of Ginaf Rally Power in last year's "Le Dakar", GRP want to show their capabilities again this coming rally. The goal is to finish in the top 5 within 3 to 4 years. The experience gathered in the coming rally will contribute to reach this goal. Finishing is important, but a top-ten position in the truck class is our aim. This year GRP will also be seen in the daily rally reports, broadcasted by RTL-5 and Eurosport television. On this website the latest news will be published as soon as possible, like last year.
At the evaluation of last year's rally, we came to the conclusion that there where a lot of items which needed improvement. One of the most important items was the lack of engine power last year. After lots of conversations the result was that GRP has made an agreement with the Dutch representative of Caterpillar, the Pon Power company from Papendrecht. This company will deliver a Caterpillar C18 engine with 950 HP to both Ginaf Rally Power and the Belgian AD-Sport team. Besides the delivery of the engines, all necessary spare parts will be provided. The engine will be delivered in working order and put into operation after it is built in. Furthermore, the assistance team will be trained to maintain the engine. This agreement will contribute to reach our goals.
