Ellen Lohr: "We're perfectly prepared for the Dakar"

Lisbon -- Tomorrow, Saturday, 31 st December 2005, represents the start of the Kwikpower Mercedes-Benz team's inaugural Dakar appearance. "We're perfectly prepared for the Dakar and delighted that the event will finally kick-off," says the team's rally driver, Ellen Lohr. "The day before yesterday, all the five Mercedes-Benz vehicles have passed the scrutineering without any problems whatsoever. In spite of knowing that our cars and trucks have been professionally prepared it turned out to be an exciting day, for us. After all, it's the first time that the full Mercedes-Benz service fleet is going to be used in anger.

Balbir Singh, the former physiotherapist of Michael Schumacher, is also feeling pleasant anticipation. Having left Formula One after ten years, the Indian now accompanies Kwikpower Mercedes-Benz during the desert trip. "Having spent just three days with Ellen Lohr and the team, in Lisbon, it feels as if I've known the squad for years," reveals Singh. "Now I'm massively looking forward to the new challenge."

'Scherer and Trier' new partner of Kwikpower Mercedes-Benz

On the verge of the start of the Dakar, Kwikpower Mercedes-Benz presents a new partner: the company "Kunststoff-Technik Scherer & Trier" (Michelau, Germany), the market leader when it comes to producing thermoplastics for the automotive industry. With a total of 2,300 employees and several branches, Scherer & Trier have gained international reputation, over the course of the past 30 years.

Special editions by the team's partners Airnergy and Martin Braun

On the occasion of the Kwikpower Mercedes-Benz Dakar premiere, the team partners Airnergy and Martin Braun have launched special editions. Airnergy, the breathing therapy specialist, now offers an 'Edition Dakar'. Ellen Lohr and her co-pilot, Detlef Ruf, also breathe Airnergy on a regular basis to improve their fitness and their competitiveness, while the team's physiotherapist, Balbir Singh, is the company's Brand ambassador.

The small but nice watch-making company 'Martin Braun', based in the Germany's Black Forest, is renowned for its innovative and exclusive watches. In Lisbon, Martin Braun provided Ellen Lohr with a newly developed chronograph from the special collection 'Dakar', featuring the design of Kwikpower Mercedes-Benz.
