The first stage of Telefonica Dakar 2005 have started and we already have the the first results. Jaromir Martinec called the stage a simple one.

Here are some of the team members observations from today's short prologue:

Jaromir Martinec (518 - Tatra):"The stage was a simple one, mostly along the beach's water line. There were just few jumps along the way and no trecherous water ford-crossings."

Tomaš Tomecek (548 - Tatra): "Today's prologue was somehow like a small dessert before the main meal. We were driving down on the wet, already packed sand and somehow got slowed down before finally passing about three slower vehicles in front of us. We've also had to go over some bad humps and the pot holes behind them were pretty hard to see, so the going had to be careful. But in all I could say that I liked this stage."

Vojtech Moravek (548 - Tatra): "This stage was the short and pleasant one, going on sand. The crowds of onlookers everywhere. The great atmosphere. I can't wait for the real African racing to begin."

Let's just remind ourselves that team's both Tatra trucks arrived in the same finish time(6 min. 13 sec.), 53 sec. back on the first Hans Bekx and his DAF truck. In the overal standings Tomas Tomecek is 11th and Andre Azevedo 10th.
