On a stage better suited for the rally car styled cars, the Monster Hummer and Robby Gordon put on an impressive performance on the 14th stage of the 2007 Dakar Rally. The Monster Energy/Toyo Tire sponsored Hummer started the day in eight and finished fifth just 1:54 minutes behind stage winner, Carlos Sainz.

"I was impressed with our performance today. We are competing with some of the best WRC drivers in the world and it's no secret that the Hummer is a Monster compared to the four wheel drive cars of Mitsubishi and Volkswagen. I'm very proud of our whole team. Once we sorted out our fuel issues this team has come alive the last part of this Rally. Winning a stage was huge for us and we already know were we are getting beat. Again the experience the team has gotten this year will show next year for sure. Tomorrow's final stage is a short stage but we are going full tilt to try and win. I think the course is better suited for the works teams but we'll start up front and see what we can do. If our team can make the gains that it made from last year to this year -- next year I know we will be in good shape.
