The new "Dakar" Touareg leads in Russia

After two of eight classified days of the Silk Way Rally in Russia the new Volkswagen Race Touareg 3 leads the overall standings. As early as on the second leg of its "Dakar" dress rehearsal the 310-hp cross-country rally prototype piloted by Carlos Sainz/Lucas Cruz (E/E) won its first special stage. In second place overall, the Volkswagen drivers Nasser Al-Attiyah/Timo Gottschalk (Q/D) are ranking ahead of Giniel de Villiers/Dirk von Zitzewitz (ZA/D) in the predecessor models. After a problem on the first day Mark Miller/Ralph Pitchford (USA/ZA) showed a strong recovery and pushed forwards to seventh place overall after the second leg. The teams are expected at the finish in Sochi on Saturday, 18 September.

Volkswagen Junior Rast wins the title

A fourth place in the thrilling finale of the Porsche Supercup season at Monza sufficed for Volkswagen Junior Rene Rast (Germany) to win the title. The race on the Grand Prix circuit in the Royal Park was won by his closest rival for the title, Nick Tandy (Great Britain). In the final standings after ten races Rene Rast has a six-point advantage over Tandy. In addition to the drivers' title Rast won the teams' championship with the team of Al Faisal Lechner Racing. Last year the now 23-year-old Rast had finished the Supercup as the runner-up.

Volkswagen Polo Cup South Africa
Victories for Kosie Weyers and Matthew Hodges at Zvartkops

Exploit for Kosie Weyers at the sixth race weekend of the Volkswagen Polo Cup at Zvartkops, South Africa: after having started from the pole position he managed to clinch victory in the first ten-lap race and second place in the second run. Victory in race two went to the 23-year-old title defender Matthew Hodges, who had finished the first race in fourth place. In the championship standings Hodges continued to extend his lead in the popular Volkswagen one-make cup.

Formula Volkswagen South Africa
Simon Moss clinches double victory

At the sixth round of the Formula Volkswagen South Africa season at Zvartkops the 19-year-old South African Simon Moss clinched a double victory and thus continued to extend his lead in the standings. Both of the 12-lap races saw the same podium finishers: Tasmin Pepper was the runner-up twice and Gordon Connelly claimed two third places.
