Dale Brinsfield Falls Short In IHRA Winter Nationals Qualifying, Completes Frustrating Weekend

DARLINGTON, SC--- There weren't enough hours in a day for Greensboro, N.C., based Pro Modified racer Dale Brinsfield. What was anticipated to be a glorious debut at the 27th annual, IHRA Prolong Winter Nationals for new sponsor Dylan Mortgage, turned into nothing but pure frustration for the team. However, this setback appears to be a temporary one. Brinsfield admittedly plans to regroup for the next event and come back in championship form.

The problems of this outing can be traced to the violent crash that destroyed his previous race car, just three weeks before this event. He was forced to purchase a 1968 Camaro under construction and prepare it for competition with no testing.

The Dylan Mortgage team definitely had their work cut out for them from the time they rolled through the gates at Darlington International Dragway. Brinsfield arrived late after working tirelessly through the night to finish building the car, effectively forcing him to miss the first day of qualifying. An untimely intake explosion on his first attempt on Saturday spoiled their only chance for a baseline run going into the final session. Breakage prior to firing for the final session was the proverbial nail in the coffin for Brinsfield.

Due to his ill-fated day, this eliminated Brinsfield from taking part in final eliminations scheduled for tomorrow.
