DARLINGTON, SC - For a driver that many have overlooked in big picture of IHRA Pro Stock, Dwayne Rice reminded the contingent at the CompetitionPlus.Com Groundhog Warm-up presented by Majesty Homes that he doesn't intends to stand by and watch the competition pass. The 29-year old, excavator from Grove City, Ill., stormed to a runner-up finish in the Pro Stock division at drag racing's largest preseason doorslammer testing session.

The former NHRA Competition Eliminator racer made the jump into the professional ranks three years ago. He's worked hard to make the jump to the top half of the field.

"We wanted to be competitive within three years of climbing into the professional ranks and after this weekend, I think maybe we're right on schedule," confided Rice. "This is not an easy class to go to the top in. We made some changes along the way and recently switched over to Ron Miller power in our Pontiac."

Rice, who is a graduate of the Roy Hill Drag Racing School, has yet to win his first IHRA national event, but sees a victory in the near future.

"This could be a good season for us," explained Rice. "My dad wrenches the car and we work well as a team. I know that he and the crew will give me the best car to go out there and do what we need to do. I just need to focus on the driving part. We'll do fine."
